OSHA Announces June 28, 2010 Web Chat on Combustible Dust

It will start at 1 p.m. EDT. Comments received will help the agency develop its standard addressing dust hazards.

OSHA announced it will conduct a June 28 Web chat to receive comments about combustible dust issues. The agency is working on a standard to address dust-related fire and explosion hazards, having issued an Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking last October, and this chat is another way to obtain stakeholders’ input.

Participants can access it at http://www.dol.gov/dol/chat.htm. The page will remain accessible for additional feedback through July 7.

OSHA said the chat will focus major issues such as the proposed standard’s scope; the balance between performance- and specification-based requirements; economic impacts; and definitions.

For technical information regarding the chat’s logistics and electronic access, contact Andy Bailey, DOL Web Content manager in the Office of Public Affairs, Division of Enterprise Communications, at 202-693-5946.
