The Senior Environmental Engineer provides environmental and process engineering support for the Company.  Primary area of responsibility is maintaining company compliance to all applicable environmental, transportation, and related safety regulations (CFR 29, 40, & 49).  Additional responsibilities include the evaluation and analysis of all manufacturing processes.  Strategic planning and preparing for new or changing environmental regulations that affect Company operations is integral to the position.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION/DEGREE: BS in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Environmental engineering.

SPECIAL EDUCATION: Must be a Trained or Certified in Hazardous Waste management, Hazwopper/ Emergency coordinator, hazardous materials transportation regulations.  Qualified environmental professional or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager is desired.

EXPERIENCE:          10+ Years

TYPE OF EXPERIENCE: Requires extensive familiarity with all EPA/DOT/OSHA regulations. Must have extensive experience in performing compliance gap analyses and have in depth knowledge of waste disposal and treatment processes. Must have strong understanding of chemistry and chemical hazards.  Sustainability and ISO 14001 program experience is desired.

ADDITIONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Incumbent will be required to train company personnel various regulations. Frequent travel may be required, including international. (Typical travel can consist of 12-20 trips per year, averaging 1 week in duration).

The incumbent must be analytical, ambitious, innovative, organized, able to work with a high degree of independence and possess outstanding interpersonal skills to be successful in this position. Incumbent must continuously update their environmental knowledge to remain current in this position

The biggest challenge in this job is guiding a variety of Company sites in the implementation of pragmatic compliance programs while assuring Corporate standards are  upheld. The major goal is to drive the Company’s  Environmental efforts forward into a “pro active” systems oriented problem solving practice.

Primary tasks are the cost-effective implementation of government regulations within the company, planning and documentation of company standard practices for environmental compliance, development of corporate compliance strategies and training.  Due to the nature of this position, the incumbent can be exposed to hazardous conditions, occasionally to emergency situations and is on call 24/7.

CITIZENSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

Due to U.S. government and military contracts candidates must be either a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
