Position: EHS Manager
Location: Roanoke VA area

The company operates through three segments: Meat Products Group, Agribusiness Group, and Bakery Products Group employing approximately 20,000 people. This plant is a division of the Bakery Products Group.
Job Description: Some of the job responsibilities include: Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to hourly, salaried and management personnel engaged in injury prevention and post incident/claim management processes; full responsibility for administering and maintaining incident reporting/recording systems to ensure organization compliance with state, provincial, federal and company requirements; utilizes incident and root cause analysis to provide direction and recommendations to plant operating personnel on how to mitigate/control losses and foster a proactive safety culture within facilities; devise and support methods to evaluate safety programs and processes, coordinate/coach accident investigation, trending analysis and facilitate development of safety improvement/business plans; prepare, conduct and/or ensure delivery of safety & health training per regulations, company policies and other requirements; provide guidance, communication and coaching to site leadership team and site personnel on safety & health requirements to improve awareness and ensure specific safety responsibilities are understood and executed; support corporate initiatives to develop process changes and take ownership for supporting and executing OHS strategies; manage safety related projects (i.e. JSA’s, Assessments, Training, etc.) as assigned; support/drive OHS promotion and communication activities (safety talks, recognition events, achievement celebrations).
Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess strong leadership capabilities, have the ability to manage multiple tasks and complete objectives on time, be a self-starter, have the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner with all levels of the organization and have the ability to operate and make decisions without close management presence. Additionally the candidate should have 5+ years safety experience out of a manufacturing environment and a BS in Safety, Environmental Science or related.
Position: EHS Professional
Location: San Diego area
Company Info: Our client is a leading manufacturer and global producer of specialty ingredients used in food, pharmaceutical and consumer products. This plant has about 240 employees.
Job Description: This person will ensure that the plant meets and exceeds all federal, state and local EHS standards & regulations and requirements set forth by management. Participates in developing a vision for EHS, which includes continual enhancement of established programs and consistent implementation of new programs within a team environment. Incorporates accountability for environmental performance into all levels of management and at the plant operations level. EHS is an important core value. This is a critical role and needs a strong environmental (EHS) professional. Responsibilities include; development of a Title V application for the site, managing the environmental compliance plan and calendar, meeting environmental permit requirements, which include storm water, wastewater, air emissions, solids waste, noise and oil pollution.
Qualifications: BS in Engineering, environmental science, health and safety or related; 5+ years environmental experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably chemical, food or pharmaceutical
Position: EHS Coordinator
Location: Lynchburg VA area

Job Description: This person will Conduct accident investigations and corrective actions, self audits and internal inspections; represent the Company with regulatory agencies as well as develop and submit required regulatory reports; develop innovative strategies and programs for improving safety awareness and overall safety culture; lead the coordination and administration of the facility’s safety, health, and environmental program; work with site management and departments to maintain a safe work environment; ensure OSHA and EPA compliance; promote safety consciousness; facilitate Central Safety Committee and meetings as needed; manage work-related injuries, illnesses, and incidents in coordination with company and state regulations.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or related field or equivalent experience; 5+ years experience in an industrial manufacturing setting with a strong safety and environmental background; managing plant Safety, Health and Environmental activities.

Location: Wilmington, NC area

This Wilmington, NC area plant has approximately 400 employees, non-union and 100K square feet.
Job Description: Some of the job responsibilities include: lead, coordinate and ensure compliance with Safety and Environmental program requirements; Manage environmental permits, certifications and registrations (NPDES, Stormwater, Air, Wastewater, Hazardous Waste); submit required EHS reports (EPCRA, Hazardous Waste, Remediation); manage workers compensation claims; implement requirements for a Large Quantity Generator and State required Post Closure Care Permit; champion waste reduction initiatives; implement industrial hygiene and safety engineering into manufacturing processes; coordinate emergency preparedness activities; lead and coordinate Safety, Environmental and Risk Management activities; drive safety and environmental improvements utilizing Safety Committee’s; determine and implement required and proactive EHS training; write and update required programs including: Confined Space, Haz Com, Hearing Conservation, Forktruck, Machine Guarding, Emergency, Bloodborne Pathogen, Crane, Respiratory Protection, PPE; develop and report safety and environmental metrics; donduct audits and implement action plans.
Qualifications: BS in Safety, Environmental or related; 3+ years EHS experience in a manufacturing environment; ability to influence without direct reports; experience with LQG, Air Permits and Storm Water Permits. Ideally the client would prefer someone with ties to NC or the region.

Job Description: This position provides the leadership and technical expertise necessary to manage safety, health,and environmental programs at two manufacturing plants. Some of the responsibilities include:
Development of policies and procedures in environmental, health and safety matters to ensure the Company meets its Legal, Statutory and Corporate governance obligations; implements policies and procedures in order to develop a high level of EH&S awareness on the Devon and Smithfield sites and a low risk working environment; ensures through line management that the Company, employees, contractors, and visitors etc. comply with EH&S polices and best practices; Active member of plant management team providing input based on analysis and trends of current EH&S environment in order to assist in the development of continuous improvement initiatives of Company EH&S programs; employee will comply with all company’s Hazardous Waste procedures and local, state and federal regulatory requirements; employee may have responsibilities of handling, storing and/or shipping hazardous waste. Responsibilities may include the signing of manifests. There will be 4 direct reports to this position.
Qualifications: BS/MS in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Environmental Engineering. Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Safety Professional is preferred; minimum 10 years of EH&S experience with increasing responsibility with at least 5 years of staff management experience years preferably in the chemicals manufacturing industry.
Position: EHS Specialist Corporate
Location: Greater Chicago area

Job Description: The role is broad and deep; it is a generalist EHS role, with a specialization in Safety. The individual we hire will oversee, design and facilitate risk operations including safety and government regulation to minimize risk to all divisions of the company’s Manufacturing. The select candidate will facilitate overview and compliance audits for safety and determine existing or potential risks for mergers, acquisitions or relocation opportunities. This person is Responsible for the coordination and development of compliance processes necessary to safety and loss prevention activities and other projects; identify and outline existing or potential risks and recommend and monitor preventative or corrective action plans; provide development for the company in EHS training programs; ensure policies and procedures are identified for local, state or federal regulation compliance; coordinates with government agencies for arbitrations, inspections, regulations, etc.
Qualifications: 5+ years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment. Behavioral safety experience is a plus. Ergonomic experience is also a plus. Experience with safety training required. Environmental knowledge and experience preferred, as well as mergers and acquisition experience. Bachelor’s degree in field related to safety required, with master’s degree preferred. CSP certification a plus. Demonstrated successes implementing loss control processes, training and behavioral based safety programs. Ability to lead large projects. Self-starter able to work independently when necessary but be part of the team and the team concept. Ability to interact with all levels of an organization and with third party partners. Experience in the demands and requirements of a rapid growth business environment. Travel to the various plant locations is required (25-50%). Six sigma/LEAN engineering experience a plus.

Location: Washington DC area
