Following the tragic West Fertilizer explosion in 2013, Pres. Obama issued an Executive Order directing OSHA, EPA and other agencies to “modernize” the manner in which the government regulates chemical manufacturing processes.  OSHA and EPA have engaged in rulemaking to create sweeping changes to the Process Safety Management standard and Risk Management Plan rule.  This webinar will dive deep into the changes we have already seen, and those making their way through the rulemaking process.

About the presenters

Eric J. Conn

Eric J. Conn is a founding partner and Chair of the national OSHA • Workplace Safety Practice Group at the law firm Conn Maciel Carey LLP, where he focuses his practice on all aspects of occupational safety & health law.  Mr. Conn represents employers in inspections, investigations and enforcement actions involving OSHA, the Chemical Safety Board, MSHA, EPA and state and local safety related agencies.  He also handles all aspects of OSHA litigation, from criminal prosecutions to appeals of citations.

Amanda R. Strainis-Walker

Amanda R. Strainis-Walker is a partner with Conn Maciel Carey LLP. Based out of Conn Maciel Carey’s Atlanta, GA office, Amanda focuses on occupational safety and health (OSHA) law. Prior to private practice, she was a Presidential Appointee at the U.S. Department of Labor as a Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA, and then as an attorney in the Office of the U.S. Solicitor of Labor, where she advised her clients, OSHA and MSHA, on a diverse range of legal and regulatory issues.

Micah Smith

Micah Smith is Of Counsel with the national OSHA • Workplace Safety Practice Group of Conn Maciel Carey LLP. He focuses his practice in the areas of occupational safety and health (OSHA) law.  Mr. Smith represents clients in the full range of OSHA-related matters across a wide range of industries, and works with his clients to identify safety and health strategies that both increase employee safety and improve business performance.
