The National Safety Stand-Down To Prevent Falls in Construction runs from May 2 through May 6 and highlights fall hazards and fall prevention in the construction industry. In 2020, more than 1 in 5 workplace deaths occurred in the construction industry. Just over one-third of the deaths in this industry were due to falls, slips, and trips, and were almost entirely from falls to a lower level. The construction industry accounted for 46.1 percent of all fatal falls, slips, and trips in 2020, similar to previous years shown in the chart.
