OSHA inspects four firms after workers’ deadly fall from scaffold at the University of Chicago Medical Center

Technical engineer died Thursday in nine-story fall at future site of UChicago Medical Center cancer center; Ironworker critically injured

CHICAGO — Agents with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration on Friday morning were at the construction site where two workers fell from scaffolding while constructing the University of Chicago’s future cancer care and research pavilion.

One of the men, 27-year-old David O’Donnell, was pronounced dead shortly after falling nine stories around midday Thursday. The other man who was critically injured was not publicly identified as of Friday afternoon.
